| Skin condition. I need an opinion on something I have.? By my armpit and shoulder blade I have a white patch that is lighter than the rest of my skin (I'm very light skinned so it's not that noticeable). However, I am constantly wondering what it might be. I thought that it might be vitiligo but it doesn't spread and I don't have ANYONE in my family with it. I have had it since I was little and my mom noticed it one day and pointed it out, but the funny thing is that I once went to the beach (which I never go to I hate it it was the 1st time I have been there since I was a VERY small child) and got *really* burned!!-Everything but the patch it stayed as white as I have ever had it and I am still waiting for my burn (which looks like a tan that only I notice) to go away (people are shocked when I tell them I'm tanned) so any tips on getting rid of a tan would help and that was about a year ago too! Any theories, advice, or answers from doctors would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I know that vitiligo stays constant and that maybe 1 in 5 people SOME form of it (which I believe 'cause I've seen it) but I have never heard of it not tanning/burning. In factLee Thomas a Detroit news reporter said that it is supposed to make you burn more. Which I do very easily (as light skinned people do) just not on that patch! is that a sign of vitiligo??? |

| you just have a pigment inconsistency. vitiligo tends to be symetrical and wouldn't be on just one random patch on your body. if you've had it since you were a small child and you don't remember getting it, you were more than likely born with it. i would suggest putting a band-aid or something over it when you go out into the sun, because if it burns that eaisily you could get skin cancer. |
