Skin condition experts !! Please help.?

I get very dry skin around my eyes, near my ears and on my chin. Some days its worse than others.
Doctors just prescribe cream, but I believe its due to diet.
I have tried to cut out dairy/lactose products which is difficult. Is there anything else that coould be causing the dry skin condition ?
I use normal soaps, shower gels etc.
I have had the condition for a number of years now, tried different creams just to relieve the dryness. Some stress and tired as always.
