Essay Topic: Choose one of the processes used as a chapter heading (7-14 and 16) in Group Dynamics as a major focus. Explain this process but weave into your discussion material relating to at least one other major group process. You should illustrate the analytical concepts and models in the academic literature on Small Groups by applying them to actual examples of groups in action.

I have chosen to use 'Intergroup Relations' as my major topic, and conflict, power and influence as my links.

I have chosen to use the example of street gangs.

I find it easy to show how the intergroup relations between gangs relate to conflict, power and influence. But I am struggling to find existing theories of the relationship between gangs as studied by sociologists.

Also, what are some ideas in which the conflict could be reduced between gangs, by the gangs themselves or an external authority,
