| M.A. in Sociology or M.S. in Family & Consumer Science -Consumer Affairs? Next year, I am graduating with a B.A. in Economics, and I'm looking for a Master's degree that will complement my undergrad degree (I'm not interested in an M.A. in Economics). I have had my sights set on getting an M.A. in Sociology from CSUF. I now see a very interesting progam in Consumer Science from Cal State Northridge. The description on the CSUN site: "The Consumer Affairs professional ensures availability of information. She watches business practices and trends. They let people know their rights and help avoid predatory business practices. The academic internship is a valuable part of the Consumer Affairs program. Through the internship, students get professional experience - and credit toward the degree. and non-profit organizations combating fraud or monitoring consumer trends" I have always wanted to proactively work to stop fraud and predatory business practices. Is this the program I am looking for, even though I would love to attend CSUF? Or should I do the M.S. in Consumer Affairs and then apply to get an M.A. in Sociology? I don't see myself getting a PhD in Sociology, so the M.A. would be the farthest I would go. But I love Fullerton (Although I haven't been on campus yet)! Their Soc program looks fantastic! But I would like a rewarding career using my economics undergrad along with consumer science to combat fraud and predatory practices...(I know I already said that)...... I am so torn! Your thoughts? Oh, and I am not interested in an M.A. in Economics because I would like to explore the other aspects of the social sciences. |
