what is the best software for maknig a music video?

so heres the thing, ive tried vegas but it LAGS SO MUCH! its horrible. movie maker in vista is really nice and it doesnt lag BUT the only problem is theres only ONE video track!!! that is so annoying! if it only had multiple tracks it would be PERFECT!! but since thats not the case, i was wondering if theres any software that isnt choppy and wont lag and is good for making music videos? ive tried adobe premiere to and it sucks.

i have 2gbs of ram running vista
