My printer says you need to install or run HP software for this feature?..?

I'm trying to scan some papers and it says that. I never had this problem before. Its been a while since I scanned something. I recently got a new monitor. Everything else with the printer is working fine. I can print, copy, etc. How do I fix this problem?
