Question on web site promotion software: Do you know where I can find this?

My understanding is that web sites that get major hits through the search engine searches are the ones that start moving up into the top positions on the first page of a web search. For example, major hits to a popular site makes it show up on pg. 1 of a Yahoo or Google search. And the less traffic to a page querried on Yahoo, for example, may end up on pg. 25.

So, is my understanding of how this works correct?

So, the software I saw basically would zoom through the internet and search for your site, find it on the search engine, and click on it many times so it looks like the site is getting hits with a lot of traffic. It does this repeatedly, so your site will look like it's getting constant hits. It will gradually start making it's way up the list until your page is listed on the first page of, say, Yahoo.

I once saw some sw that would do this, but I can't find it now, and don't remember the name. Got any ideas?
