how do i download desktop software for my blackberry 7250?

i went to the blackberry site and has about 20 different options to download but i dont know which one to do? i want to be able to see my tasks and calendar on my desktop along with transfer media.

when i plug in my usb i hear a "ding" like it detects my phone but nothing pops up for me to install?
i got it from a friend no disk- nothing. the programs i have to choose from are not by size but versions and i dont know which version i need for the 7250
