can one safely run 2 anti virus software programs?

I have norton AV and dont want to keep it, but i don't want to be uncovered. so i'd like to try AVG and if it is OK, then kill Norton..

Will this cause a problem?

I would highly doubt it—but why do you want to get rid of Norton anyway? (I mean, if you don't think it's effective [which some people on the Internet believe—some even say it makes your computer *more* vulnerable through gaps in the application itself], why not just get rid of it and try out AVG?)

What I'm getting at is, if you don't think Norton works well, you *already are* "uncovered", so I would just go ahead and delete it and try to find an application that you like that you have faith in.

Try CNET.com. This has really been a source of helpful information to me. Anytime I have a issue I consult there first. Hope this helps.

It's generally not recommended to run 2 antivirus programs at the same time. Most antivirus programs will even ask you to uninstall the current one first.

I would not recommend running 2 antivirus programs on the same PC, as it is highly likely they would affect each others performance.

Good luck.
