i have dvr software on my laptop th view cameras at work but i cant connect

at home. why?
can someone help me to figure this out? I have two different programs and was given a IP address,maybe walk me thru this???
i think it is a conflict with wireless internet at work & my wireless sprint card. the i am administrator for both programs. can someone help me with this?
