Where can I download FREE software to convert my movies to ipod?

I downloaded one yesterday, but found out that I needed to buy the full software in order to not have the watermark ("trial version" is what the watermark said). I downloaded handbrake and it was free and worked pretty well, but it started giving me some problems lately. Where can I find a free software to convert it?
