is it possible to use US licensed adobe software in the UK?

i have heard that it will run but i wont be able to recieve upgrades or product support. Do you think it would be worth getting if i cant get upgrades. Although i think you have to pay loads for these upgrades anyway, so to be honest i wouldnt bother anyway.................
