having problems with Ares music software downloader. Help???

okay i have Ares and it lets me download the songs and stuff but when i try to play them it says "Media error: cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available". but when i play music elsewhere (itunes, myspace, etc) it plays, so i know it isn't my speakers or anything like that. can somebody tell me what to do to fix it? be specific please.
