Open source Video Surveillance software for mutiple cams?

I currently have an older PC sitting around doing nothing except streaming video capture sources onto the net. I want to change that. I want to use these inputs as video sources to a recorded survalliance system.

I have 1 USB and 2 PCI video capture cards. And I am looking for an open source (preferably) software that will allow me to record video from all 3 capture devices preferably with motion detection. This way at any later time I can view things that have happened while I was gone. Webserver based actions are not needed.

Do you know of any software that can help me accomplish this goal?
