Software that provides Keyboard or Bass sounds on a computer?

I am trying to find some sort of software that provides the same sound as a keyboard or a bass just on a pc. I need this for recording tracks which I later can record a studio. Problem is, I dont have all the instruments in my house and carrying all the equipment in and out of the garage can be a chore. Therefore, does anyone know of a program that can offer the same kind of sound like a keyboard/bass/guitar or whatever.
