how to create a copy of previously installed software?

i bought some software a few years ago which is currently installed on my laptop. i now need to install the same program onto my new PC but have lost the CD-ROM. is there some way that i can create a copy of the program on my laptop (without the cd) and use it to install the program on my PC? cheers!
