| What leads people to believe these myths about Atheism?
---This is a serious question looking for serious answers---How do all these myths and misconceptions about Atheism get started? Is it ignorance, lack of education, or just wanting to start garbage with us..? How does this stuff start, and why do people keep believing lies about Atheists even when they are told otherwise? ---The following statements are commonly repeated myths about Atheism--Atheists have no morals.Atheists can not be religious or spiritual.Atheists believe in God but are denying his existance because they are too lazy.Atheists hate Christians/God/Jesus.Atheists worship Satan.Atheists have a standard set of beliefs which includes concepts such as evolution. Again, this is a serious question. What starts all of these myths, and why do people believe them?

Because it is true about some. Just like the fact that Christians are stupid is sometimes true. It is applied as a stereotype by the bitter opposition. But I, as a Christian, do not think that way about all atheists. I don't have to agree with them on every level to be civil.

For me, as a Christian, I do not have any myths associated with any atheist...........I just find it terribly sad that they have no belief in God..........

There are those who see life as a conflict. And they feel that they have to resort to lies in an effort to win.Swiftboating, though harsh, is their way of insuring a win.

From what I have seen from some of the atheists that answer on here, it is no myth.I DO realize that just like Christians, they are not all alike. There are variations within any group.Often, it is not the one that argues the loudest, or longest, it is the one that can argue well that wins the argument. Certain ones put their points across quite well. I think many take it for granted that it is the average point of view.

Generally, people who espouse those lies about atheists are nothing but ignorant bigots (or just plain ignorant for the less offensive of the statements). Some are so deeply brainwashed they can't see any way that someone could honestly not believe in their current myth. It's quite amusing. Luckily, the majority of decent, honest theists know these statements are nonsense.
