| Education Secretary Ed Ball's comments?
When Ed Ball heard that 6 and 7 year olds are suffering from stress because of the exams they are having to sit, he expressed disbelief that they were being told they were sitting the tests! He basically thinks that they should be lied to.My argument is this: if he thinks that these tests are so stressful for young children that they should have the situation kept secret from them, isn't that enough to prove that they shuoldn't have to sit exams at that age in the first place?

Ah! and if they would lie to 6 and 7 year old children then who else will they tell untruths to in the name of protection from stress?I agree with you that children at 6 and 7 should not have to sit exams, their teachers should be well enough trained to be able to access the child's performance without personalities choosing favourites. Exams for eleven year old children is quite soon enough for streaming and for all the stress that comes with the education system.

The tests are completely unnecessary, he teachers should know what the children can do. If the politicians don't trust the teachers, which I think is the case, it should be easy enough to moderate their judgements.
