Why do we accept the failure of our education system?

U.S. education currently educates more of its citizens to a higher degree than any other nation on the planet. Foriegn students flock to the U.S. for an education in one of the many and varied educational institutions that are the result of over two centuries of educational advancement. Lokking for failure will only show the failure. Look for the success and you will see that it is far greater than any imagined failures of the system.

Why do we accept the failure of our education system?

I've done some research on education in other parts of the world and I am not sure that we don't have the best one around. That doesn't mean that there is no room for improvement; There is always room for improvement.I agree with you. We are in jeapardy on a number of levels. We are in serious shape because our educational system especially at levels that produce doctors, scientists, engineers and computer related specialties is being devalued. It costs more for an American to get that kind of education, yet although these are good jobs the world market would rather pay a fraction of the real worth or a professional by outsourcing from other countries. You can easily see that we are importing doctors from overseas. Nurses are also at a premium, but this is a different issue. We have, based on demand created more educational programs to train Nurses and possibly Nurse Practitioners.I hope and believe that we are on the verge of a major change in the area of education. Notice all the charter schools that are replacing the regular classes. Copying another country's educational system cannot work because there are too many differences rooted in the culture of other countries. That is not the answer. America needs to keep what it has and make it better. Our government should assist its citizens to be able to afford to go to school and reward those who have the ability to learn, even if they don't have families that could afford to help them achieve a career that will help themselves and the occupation of their choice.

In this country we have political correctness and must let every little Liberal, Socialist and Communists to our school system to teach our children and we have no say in this...This has gone on now for two generations and is probably to late to stop...

Why do we accept the failure of our education system?

Everyone is talking about the European schools being so much better than the American school system. I think people should know that in many countries, when a child in Europe enters MIDDLE SCHOOL, they have a choice to make.........go into a trade curriculum, or go into a higher education curriculum. That is probably WHY their high schools score better on tests............it only includes those students who are achieving the college education!!!! Bet most here did not know that fact. The above fact does not in any way condone our educational system. There is a lot wrong, especially when OUR GOVERNMENT IS INVOLVED!!!!! The No Child Left Behind is a farce in my opinion. Furthermore, with both parents, or one parent is working full time, some two jobs...........the cop out is they do not have time. We MUST GET THE PARENTS INVOLVED IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEMS AND INVOLVED IN THE STUDENTS SCHOOL LIFE.

you are absolutely right! our public education system is a joke. and i would agree that we can take a lesson from other nations that have successful school systems. it truly is time for our government, republicans and democrats alike, to put their money where their mouths are on this issue!
