I'm feeling upset because i'm worrying about my dads health?

I'm 16 years old and my dad is, you wouldnt believe it... but hes actually 71 years old. He has CHF and COPD, diabetis and other health problems. Hes always in the hospital for something. He wasnt in the hospital close to 3-4 months for his CHF which is a miracle because hes always in there every 2 months. But he DID go in because he had bronchitis. That was about a month and a half ago. Then just Friday his lungs were filling up because of his CHF and had to go to the hospital. I have personal problems like dropping out of school and I worry about my education and my father. Right now i'm so confused! I just want to cry! After hes out and is doing great I stop worrying about him, but everytime he comes out I always worry. Now next month the doctors want to run tests and were talking about open heart surgery. I think they just want to mess with him or something. They want to see if theres a blockage.A blockage somewhere and maybe thats why hes always filling up so soon. But It seems like since hes been taking his pills everyday, 3-4 months this time was a miracle. He was also acting more energetic and not lazy. He would move around and do house work and stuff. His EF is only 25%. I always think of him going to die. And I know he will someday but I cant face that day. I should stop worrying about him dying though. Hes had CHF for half my life. For about 7-8 years now. Hes been in and out of the hospital my whole life. I'm scared to death because the thought of him having open heart surgery, makes me think that they want to mess around with him. I told him if theres no blockage after you get the results then dont do open heart surgery. They already said a heart transplant isnt good because hes diabetic and his heart is bad.he wasnt even drinking that much fluids to even fill up. Hes been taking his pills everyday.I can always tell when hes filling up because he acts really tired and lazy and really quiet and a little winded more usual than normal. HE ALWAYS BLAMES IT ON HIS ASTHMA!!Hes blamed it on his asthma about 5 times now. Ive never seen his asthma act up since ive known him in my whole 16 years of life. Hes ALWAYS in denial and is scared to go to the ER to have them drain the fluids.. because his medicare only pays for 70% I think and hes in debt with medical bills right now. And thats why he never goes until he fills up and cant breath. He used to go to this CHF clinic and they would drain fluids. He would never be in the hospital when he went there, maybe 2 times a year for his CHF. But he stopped going because they said he was doing good. Now his insurance wont cover it all and it costs a grand each visit to the clinic and he wont go because of that.

It sounds like you really care about your dad and are trying to understand what all of hs medical problems are. My dad was 72 when he died and my sister was just 17 and graduating from school. I myself was just graduating from college at 21. There is a group called "Wave Riders" that works with people under 18 experiencing siutations like your own or who have actually lost their loved one. I suggest you try to find a group like this in your area. Most areas have a hospice agency that you could call and find out about support groups. The important thing is to find people who understand what your dealing with and can offer you support.
