Basic training can be brutal if your not fit, but if you lear to fly or be a mechanic you can be a piolet or an engineer when you get out. pay is fair about 40-50 grand a year I think and the lifestyle is okay you will also travel and see the world, I would do it you realy would help your country and get your life sorted out, PS if you like please best answer me i need it Thanks~~~

I was in the Marines so I cant really relate but I know that a Associate Degree might get you started as an E-2 of 3 as apposed to E-1 or E-2, I would stick it out and get a Bachelors degree if you can, so you can go in as a officer. There are programs so that the air force pays you to go to school, once you a "Junior"Training is Skate.

I was 25 when I joined the Air Force. Are you going in as Active Duty or Guard or Reserve?First off basic training. It used to be 6 weeks, now its 8 or 8 and a half. There was talks of making it 12 for awhile but I don't know what is the status on that. Pack Light, bring only what you really need. Don't pack too much clothes. One set besides what you are wearing should be good. Don't bring too much valuables. Don't carry too much cash on hand, they will make you document all you money by serial numbers. Trust me when I say this you want your bag to be light!!!Your first week there will be hell unless you are used that kind of lifestyle. I arrived shortly after midnight after a 13 hour flight and 1 and a half hour bus ride. You will be stationed in San Antonio Texas. Your training intructor will be assigned to shortly after your arrival. Your first thing to accomplish is in processing. You will be yelled at, the most important thing to remember is don't take things personal!!! That is their job, they are not yelling at you personally. Easier said than done I know but try to keep that in mind!!!Lifestyle is barracks style with bunks. You will be up at 0430 and will bed down at around 2300. Your daily duties will be Physical training, marching, and learning all the customs and courtesies. You will be fed chow hall food except when you are in the feild, you will have MRE's(Meals Ready To Eat)I think you would be better off graduating from college but the do have an age restriction which I believe is 28. With your degree you could go into officer training which would be better off in the long run.I don't think I can fit everything in here to answer all your questions. If you want you can contact me if you have more questions and I can elaborate on the things that you may want to know.Edit: Know what you want before talking to a recruiter and stick your guns!!!Edit: Are you going to be a pilot? That was not stated in your original question or details.

20-45 credits gets you in as an e2 45- right before a bachelors gets you in as an e-3 a bachelors will get you in MAYBE as an officer but def as an e-4. The air force is nice, my dad was in for 24 years. pick a job that will land you a nice civilian job though. Go see a recruiter, the air force is kinda full. you'll have to take the asvab and depending on how good you do they'll talk to you, but be warned i got an 85 afqt score and they didn't want to have anything to do with me. maybe my recruiters just sucked. every gets paid the same basic pay in your pay grade e-3 or e-2 or whatever) it depends on if your married or have any dependants if you get bah ( basic housing allowance) which in some places is 1600 more a month, but in some places its 600 depends on where your duty station is. The air force pays for your college while your in. when you get out you will have access to your gi bill. they take 100 a month out of your paycheck for the first year to put in it, but they give you something ridiculous like 5 5 times the amount you put in to go to school. basic sucks.. all basic sucks. the airforce is changing the length of their basic in november, from 6.5 weeks to 8.5 weeks. also you have to run a 2 mile a 1.5 mile be sit ups and push ups and if you want to be a honor grad some pull ups. the asvab is pretty easy get a study guide and get brushed up. i bought Kaplans 2009 asvab study guide for $20 at barnes and noble and like i said i got an 85 afqt and pretty high line scores, (the navy asked me if i wanted to go into nuclear engineering i said nooooo thank you!) afqt is 2(VE)+MK+AR. VE= Paragraph knowledge +word knowledge. mk=math knowledge AR= arithmatic knowledge. there are a few other parts of the test like general science automotive mechanical electrical and objects. Thanks your serving! see you out there! I chose air traffic controlman in the navy! First step: go see a recruiter!
