Why has the standard of education fallen so low in Britain?

The young people of today don't seem to have been educated at all. How are they going to manage in later life if they can't make themselves understood now? Is it deliberate government policy to under educate children today? The Labour governments of the past made it a priority to educate the masses.
I'm not picking on the current Labour government. I'm blaming all governments from the advent of the B*tch from hell Maggie Thatcher to the present day. The rot set in with the Tory government and has gone down hill ever since as the Labour government has done nothing to stop the rot. It's ok saying that there are so many more teachers and so many more staff support personnel but what are they doing? Nothing as far as I can see. It surely can't cost much to teach basic english and grammar and spelling. We were made to learn. There was no such thing as I don't want to learn so I'm not going to.

I cannot understand how you come to your conclusion that the education system in the UK has worsened in the UK under the present Labour government. The system in place now is a hundred times better than what was in place during the `fabulous` last Tory government. 35, 000 more teachers and 50,000+ more support staff. Look at the success of the vast majority of the good kids in this country, rather than looking at the very small number of children who do not want to be educated.

education starts at home, you need only to look at the parents to see the failings of the child and vice versa, Teachers can only do so much when children start school with no clue whatsoever.

Don't blame the government for this one. Kids are so busy with their computers and games ,calculators and mobile phones etc, they have no need to think or to work out any problem, it's all done for them. answer? cut out all of the above, Get back to pencil and paper and reading books, start to use the grey matter for a change.
