| Anyone find that washing after sex prevents STDs?
Health education web sites such as "MedlinePlus" and "Intelihealth.com" recommend washing involved genitals and other body parts after sex to prevent STDs. Can anyone confirm that this is true on the basis of personal experience? I'm interested in practical details, such as whether or not to use soap, how long to spend washing, if rinsing and drying afterward are key, if using a bidet would facilitate this job. Would also welcome references to additional respectable sources of such advice. |

Well there's two points here really. STI's and STD's, an STI, sexually transmitted infection, would be reduced with washing. That would be a communicable skin or bacterial infection of some sort. I could see that possibly helping if you shower after sex. I have read that as well, to shower and use the washroom after to reduce infections. But not diseases no, an STD is absorbed through your skin or a small skin tear. So it's really quite doubtful that washing will do much in that case. Either way it's just a good idea to shower after sex anyway.
