Most std's require a swab test in genital area. The only one that doesn't is HIV which is a blood or a swab test done on your tongue. Urine tests are usually just for urinary tract infections.

The doctor sticks a Q-tip swab inside your crank, then he rubs it on a culture plate, then in a few days the lab tech can see what kind of gono-herpa-syphalo-crab-cake you got for forgetting to wear your rain coat.
