| do all STDs show up in the blood?
My boyfriend is trying to reassure me that he is clean because he regularly donates blood... does that really mean anything? I've finally convinced him to get tested... particularly after I've recently gotten a white odorless discharge and soreness... no other symptoms like painful urination or burning... but still. Is it possible that these symptoms can be STDs? is blood donation enough to speak of an STD?

No, all STDs tdo not show up in the blood. Also, they do not run all types of tests on donated blood since not all STDs can be spread through blood. He must go a doctor and request a complete STD screening. You should probably do the same.

Your symptoms sound like thrush - esp if the discharge is thick and curdy (sorry for TMI). Thrush discharge is odourless and can cause severe itching and pain. As for your boyfriend, I assume you're not using condoms, hence your concern. I'm not sure if his reliance on the blood donor screening is good enough. I know they check for HIV but not sure about any other STI's. I'd tell him to get a full STI screen - including HIV and that until he does this he's to use a condom or there will be no sex. That should concentrate his mind. |
