What kind of work while studying abroad??????????????

Im a comparative literature major from a UC campus in the U.S.A. I would like to study abroad so I can become more fluent in some languages( spanish, french, german). So my question is does it matter what kind of work you get when you go abroad with a university? Can i do barista work in german while studying? or work on a boat in mexico? Also what kind of paperwork would I need? THanks In Advance!

You might want to look for work through which ever program you study abroad with. There are different visa's for different things - if you have a student visa you might not be able to just go out and get a job. It will also help with the language issues as well (you don't really want to be a barista if you have no clue what people are ordering, right?).
