| Small Public Colleges? Check out Marshall University....did you ever hear of the movie "We are Marshall"? (Matthew McConaughey) I have some family that lives there....it's in Huntington WV. I think it's about 13,000 undergrads, has practically every major, a med school, engineering, etc. and tons of people go there every year because their out of state tuition is cheaper than many in-state tuition rates at other colleges. I have a cousin from New Jersey that went there because of that...it was cheaper for her to go to MU than to the colleges in her own state, and it's a good public school. I think the city has about 50,000 people and is surrounded by a fairly rural area. Check it out. |

| Small Public Colleges? The best source for researching schools is College Board. You can specify your preferences in terms of size and location - based on the information you mentioned, a list of over 150 schools turned up. Check it out at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/csearch/index.html. Another great resource to check out is the Greene's Guide to the Public Ivies: check out the list of public schools at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy.As you can see there are tons of options. A little research and you'll start to understand what your options are and what your preferences are. Soon you'll narrow down that list to the schools you want to apply to. |
