| How can I lower my tax refund and get more money back through out the year? I...
...already have 9 exemptions? I am already claiming 9 exemptions for fed and state each. This lowers my taxes but with 18000 in interest for mortgage and 3 kids, I still get a good return of about 3000. I would like this to be reduced.

You can fill out a new W4 - still list your 9 exemptions but ask employer to take out additional $57.69 per week which if you have no changes would let you break even at the end of the year. You can have any additional amount you want taken out by your employer. However make sure to keep in mind, if your income increases or we get a democrate (lol) in office & there is a tax increase you may end up paying in.

I think the two people above understood your question backwards. In order to decrease your refund and get more back during the year the only thing you can really do is increase your exemptions but I am pretty sure 10 is the max you can claim. Just be thankful you make enough to be in this situation. Any hey, if you can't find anything to do with that $3,000 send it to me I am sure I can find a good use for it......just kidding! Ha Ha

Are they withholding anything now for federal income tax? If they are, add another several exemptions. If they aren't withholding anything now, adding exemptions won't help - but if that's the case you must be getting EIC. You can request Advanced EIC payments in your paychecks - fill out form W-5 and give it to your employer. See http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96515,00.html for info.
