Claiming emergency tax?

I have paid a lot of emergency tax in the past year, around £1,200 to be exact, can I claim this back?

I have been at uni, in a job (which made me redundant), on JSA and I am now in a job again if this helps.

If you have overpaid tax and being on an emergency code you possibly have write to the tax authorities and enclose a copy of you P60 I don't think they give it back automatically these days

I got mines back automatically with my pay once
