Tax implications of buying a home in the US. Non-Immigrant Legal Alien.?

Hi,

I've just transferred to the US and am looking to rent or buy. Does anyone know the tax implications for a non-immigrant legal alien purchasing a house here, particularly as I may look to leave in three years time?
