Should people over 70 years be TAXed in the UK especially if they gave their lifes for us all in the wars? My Grandad is 90 years (go on him) however from his pension which is not mega amounts the Government still tax him. He put up his life to defend our country and fight for others in the 2nd world war, what reward has he been given but to get old and still gave to struggle in life to pay his way and be taxed. What are your views?

i think tax should be based after you retire the amount of time you have worked. ie if you have been a dole scrounger you should be taxed the maximum, if you have worked all your life you should be able to retire and live comfortably

We all hate paying taxes and it isn't any different for persons who fought in wars. The person was paid for their service when they were in the war, and that payment didn't involve waiving a person's future taxes. It's hard for most people to pay taxes, and it isn't different for veterans, unfortunately. Your granddad has to suffer with the rest of us.

I think that if you have lived your entire life in the UK, and given to the community (i.e. worked, and not scrounged benefits all your life), at age 70 you should be exempt from all taxes and qualify for 100% government-paid gas bills.
