Did Jesus use truth as a hammer when he taught his desciples ? Or did he mix...

...it with grace? Does truth need to be used always as a sledgehammer? How was grace and love used by Jesus? How many times in scripture do you see Jesus blasting his followers? I thought he was very patient in teaching and answering questions...I thought he was kind..
What's a proper balance for Christians ?
rracer...I speaking about the diciples here.
How do we as Christian represent the truth with our fellow Christians and the unsaved? Do we hammer them with just truth? Or do we take all the fruits of the spirit complimenting truth with grace? Do we operate with the gentleness of Christ enough?

To Jesus, those truths were treasures beyond price. He loved them, and he was eager to share them. He wanted all his followers, “every public instructor,” to feel that way. Jesus also loved the people he taught,Jesus cared about people. He cared about the thoughts and attitudes that drove them; he was concerned about the burdens that weighed them down and the obstacles that hindered them from grasping the truth.

When Jesus began his ministry in 29*C.E., he knew that he was starting a work that he would not finish on his own. Jesus recognized that much work would remain to be done after his death. To his 11 faithful apostles, he said: “Most truly I say to you, He that exercises faith in me, that one also will do the works that I do; and he will do works greater than these, because I am going my way to the Father.” (John 14:12) Since the Son was returning to heaven, his followers—not just the apostles but also all future disciples—would have to carry on the preaching and teaching work. (John 17:20) Jesus humbly acknowledged that their works would be “greater than” his.

Jesus showed His disciples miracles, like walking on water and calming the storm. So no, He didn't use a "hammer" to teach them, He used love and I guess you could say grace as well.

God bless!

You're correct. Jesus' only harsh words are reserved for the religious leaders who use their authority to exclude people from the community of faith. Otherwise, he teaches love and grace.

Peace to you.

He did use a cat-of-nine tails once.

John 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

I don't think Jesus ever used the truth as a sledgehammer. I know He turned the tables over in the temple because of the money changers. I think He showed grace to all. He showed grace by washing the feet of His disciples. When He told Judas what Judas was going to do to Him, He said it with grace. When He told Peter he would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed. He said it to Peter in grace not in a way. That the truth was said to Peter or Judas as a sledgehammer.
