Are there any sites that can teach me about TXT messaging shorthand?

I'm so new to the Texting aspect of technology and am lost in all the different shorthanded notes that you can do in texting. I know it sounds kinda silly that this is coming from someone that's in his early 30s, but I do love texting my friends, but I don't know the shorter ways of saying what I want to say.
