What's the best way to teach children not to be patriotic?

I mean, you never know what a child turns out to be, and if my child decided to become patriotic, I would love them anyway. I'd just hope that their patriotic coming out wouldn't be too embarrassing. But is there a way to prevent it from the start, so that they stay normal? Just so the neighbours won't talk and all?
