How can I teach non-narratives to 6th graders?

I need to demonstrate, to my 6th grade students, different examples of non-narratives. What falls into the category of "non-narrative"? What will be a good example of what IS and what IS NOT a non-narrative? Any activities you can recommend to help drive the point home?
