Teaching my toddler two languages good or confusing?

My son is 22 months old. I am bilingual English/Spanish and my husband only speaks English. Now that my son understands English although he is just now learning to speak himself, do you think it would be too confusing to start speaking to him in Spanish? What are some good suggestions about teaching children two languages? And, did I mess up by not speaking to him in Spanish from day one?

I wish my parents had done that it would make everything a whole lot easier. Ya i think that thats a good idea.
