How can the younger population teach the older populace to respect other races??

I'm having a hard time teaching my mother to copy and paste on the computer.. And she's only 50...

So is it even possible to change the mindstate of a person who is over 70??

As far as the cutting & pasting, show her, and then sit next to her and have her do it a few times. Sometimes it seems older people learn things better by doing.

As far as changing a mindset....it depends on the person you're trying to change. If you're over 70, you have seen much more than a lot of people, but, as long as you live, situations and learning and adaptations to things happen. My father was 72, and was slightly predjudiced against hispanics, until I came home with an hispanic girlfriend. After meeting her, seeing how we interacted, and how she showed him much respect for his age, nt only did he change his mind, but since his 73rd birthday, he's been taking spanish lessons. So, it can happen, just depends on who it is, and how you propose they make that change

Did anyone ever tell you that you cannot change anyone?
I wouldn't start trying to change anyone let alone someone over 70.
Mind your own business.

One way to at least get them to listen to what you have to say is by respecting them. I can guarantee you that if a younger person came to me with an arrogant attitude and declared that my mindset was wrong and that I should listen to them, the enlightened and progressive youth of our society, I would shut them out inside the 1st paragraph. You are correct that many older people are a little hide bound in their thinking, but keep in mind that they almost certainly can teach you much more than you could bring to them. You will have to foster a relationship where a genuine respect and exchange of ideas can occur, and a part of that is your respect for their lives and experience.

I think your generalizations are the problem. Not everyone is as close minded as you are. If you wish to teach everyone about how they should behave, god luck, but life often doesnt work that way. People have freedom of choice for a reason. Was tha an abortion reference? Hmmm. Older people often have wisdom and insight into things you dont understand. Tap that and try to use that to temper your actions and that will be the mst beneficial thing to do. You trying to change everyone is one of the problems that hinder America in the modern age.
