I am considering history teaching as a career. Are there any teachers who...

...can give me their take? I am a 32 year old male who is still trying to figure out what I want to do when I "grow up". I find history fascinating and am considering teaching it. I don't have a college degree and what credits I took are now worthless as it's been too long. I'll be starting over. Is a bachelors necessary to teach in schools? What is a basic starting salary more or less? Can any teacher, be it history or otherwise give me any insight into the real world of teaching? Ideally I'd like to teach at the college level, but haven't ruled out middle and high school. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
