| Do you think morality is a natural, inherited genetic trait, or something that must be taught for it to exist?
i think it's a combination of both. i'm a great believer in both nature and nurture. there are behaviours which can seem highly moral or altruistic but they are still adopted by a species because they strengthen their chances of survival/success (see link for specific examples of biological altruism).

I believe that man in the primitive state is not moral, but instinctive. Man, as a thinking creature, knows there is something missing. In every culture there is some kind of worship of GOD. The thinking man, believing in GOD, will be moral, because they follow the Laws of a living GOD. Society teaches morality, because we are above the primitive animal instincts. All of the old societies were people who believed in GOD.I believe that morality is something that must be taught for it to exist. In the book “Lord of the Flies” the young boys revert back to a non-moral state. The Bible has a structure of a patriarchal family unit, intended to nurture children and teach them how to be moral, GOD fearing adults.
