40ish professional male who likes rock and has a large collection.?

Does anyone see a problem with this? I'm leaving this question undetailed purposely, hoping for some interesting responses. Sometimes I wonder if I should not like music the way I do. But, it really doesn't interfere with my life, except sometimes. Okay, there's some details. I'm married, 3 kids, and have taught elementary school for 16 years, now in a career transition in another town.

You sound quite normal to me. So what's the problem? Interferring with listening to other family member music preferences? I don't think you need a lecture on sharing.....going to rock concerts with high school buddies?....just because you are 40 doesn't mean you change your likes......There's a saying in psychology..."as you get older you become more like yourself, and less like others".......something to ponder....(psychologist)

Don't even question it.... I'm also a professional 30 something metal head with over 1000 cd's.... I also love classical music, jazz, and the blues.... If something you can relate to is a part of your life why would you want to give it up?

I'm older than you are and I still love listening to Metallica, Ozzy, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Zeppelin...the list is endless. I like jazz and other genres but rock energizes me. I LOVE screaming guitars. I can't stand country music, it is too shallow. I like lots of new music too, as long as it's not rap. When I hear rap, I long for the days of Motown when the "black" music was made by people who actually had talent. Or give me Jimi Hendrix or Lenny Kravitz. Anything but rap...

if it doesn't interfere with your life then why are you even asking the question? is someone in your life trying to convince you that you are "sick" for liking music so much? several things....1. how important is this relationship to you?2. how is your "music obsession" negatively effecting this person?3. is it worth changing to save the relationship?really, the entire issue rests on how important the music thing is to you in proportion to how important the person criticizing it is to you, and how much of a problem they really have with your music addiction.

....what's wrong with that?....you are perfectly normal...in fact, that should be the case of all professional guys...they should have an outlet from career aside from going to the bars and drinking until dawn. Besides, rock music is not for the youngsters but also those young at heart (40ish) I have a neighbor...her husband who's a neuro-surgeon always watch cartoons after surgery...to relax the mind. I have also a friend...he is a lawyer and plays Playstation 2 on weekends especially after a big case. I think that's not weird....as long as you love it....
