Teaching a Dog how to Swim?

I have a Golden Retriever who is 5 years ago, and I want to teach him how to swim. Since he is a Golden Retriever, he might know naturally, but I want to make sure just in case.
Where we used to live, we had a very small pool so we didn't worry about him drowning, but we moved and we're constructing a very big pool, and we're afraid he can fall in.


My dog is afraid to go near the pool everytime I try to pick him up to go into the pool, so how can I teach him to go in the pool and teach him how to swim?
