how can i teach my rhodesian ridgeback not to get out of my fence?

i dont know how she is getting out. she wont do it when i am ou t there.

and i wont chain her up she is a good dog i just dont want anything to happen to her. she is my daughters dog and she just lost one dog cause she got out and got ran over. my daughter is only 6 i dont want her to have to go through that again.
i work during the day so i cannt take her for a walk. but she is not alone. i also have a lab mix and they play together but she gets out and he does not. they are both fixed so thats not the problem.

Simply enough, it is called a leash. We have a fully fenced yard and my dogs are never outside without me, and they go out on a leash. Practical, and safe. Good luck.

hes getting out probably becuase he is bored in the back yard or wanting to mate.

try making the backyard interesting for him. i hide treats and play with my dog in the yard. giving them plenty of exercise is the best way to prevent them from doing bad things.

also a shock collar will work. if the collar is remote controlled and gives a waring beep, you can warn the dog not to go near the fence. but then you must only let them in and out of the yard through the house. i only had to shock my dog once, and now shes learned, and hasnt worn the collar since.

I have to agree with Cathy, you need to have him on a leash, is your back yard big enough for him? RRB's are big dogs and need a lot of room to exercise and such. Either take him out a few times a day in your hand on al eash, take him on a long walk/jog, or get an leash that you take into the ground during hte day if he's outside.
