| Spiritually speaking, why don't people just answer instead of thinking they have some grammar lesson to teach
I see posts on here all the time that can be perfectly well understood, and people, instead of simply answering the question, have to correct (from their perspective) spelling, grammar, etc. Is this just a way of feeling superior, or is this the negative affect of 7th grade English teachers who don't know what they are talking about? Since linguists in general do not recognize a "proper" form of English, why the smug nonsense?

There *is* no "standard English", that's the point!

"use English properly" is precisely the myth I'm pointing out.
Note, I start the question with "perfectly understandable". If you don't understand, say so, but it is not always correct to assume you have the linguistic advantage.
The primary function of language is not to exchange propositional content (i.e., communicate).
