Can a qualified Brit teach English as a foreign language in U.S.?

My fiance is English and an experienced ESL teacher. If he moves to California with a MA Education (TEFL) and viable work permit, can he find work in universities and colleges even with the accent? Or do U.S. colleges prefer American accents only? Thanks so much for your help!

He will have hard time for sure it will be possible but not easy, Americans use strange pronunciation for vowels I am sure they will be able to understand him on the long run but he will need to practice the American accent!
