I've ridden since I was little and been taught different things by many people-- but why did none of my trainers ever teach the one rein stop? After researching it tonight and watching videos of it in action with spooking and bucking horses, it seems like it would have saved me from a nasty experience earlier today and not to mention other falls from other horses throughout my life.
Tomorrow I'm going out to start training my horse the one rein stop (carefully, of course)...I wish I would have known about it a long time ago! So why is it that most instructors seem to ignore this very useful teqnique?
Expensive Troll Reining Mule-- Thank you

I'm going to start with Nik on this tomorrow and see how he takes it...I'm not sure what the Amish teach or even if they do teach things like that to their horses. I can't believe some people don't know this...watching vids of people riding a horse and using the teqnique gives me a lot more confidence than I had an hour ago
Yeah, I need to change my avatar again, I got a mohawkish thing now lol.
