Racism, etc. Teaching in Hawaii Public Schools?

Teaching in Hawaii Public Schools/ Racism, etc.?

I am a recent graduate and have a degree teaching Special Education, I am looking to re-located to Hawaii for a year..any teachers who work/ have worked / or parents of children who attend Hawaii public schools out there?
I would like some insight on what the education system is like out there, I have heard talk of racism and financial difficulties?
I am just curious to hear from some locals.
