Please help: teaching in the 1800's?

how much did teachers make in the late 1800's? any help would greatly be aprreciated. i have to do it for school and i have been looking on countless websites but there is not any info.
so if you know how much teachers made in the late 1800's and how often they got paid please let me know. thank you. ( also please leave a source)

Laura Ingalls Wilder provided plenty of info about it. She was a teacher and some of the books in her Little House collection detail how much she had to study, which exams she had to take, what grade certificates she earned and the pay.

Check out Little Town On the Prairie and These Happy Golden Years. Both provide great detail as to the working conditions of dedicated American teachers. Not everyone enjoyed the benefits of a nice, newly built school.
