Christians - Does the bible teach us to pray to Jesus or God his Father? Many Christians pray to Jesus, do you think this is right? Please give scriptural reasons for your answers, thanks. If you are a Trinitarian, do you think it's right to conclude that it's ok to pray directly to Jesus, when Jesus himself said in the "Lords Prayer" to address your prayers to his Father?

If you believe that Jesus and God are two parts of a whole (along with the Holy Spirit) as I do, then it makes no difference who you pray to. Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father but by me (John 14:6)" so your prayers should be sent through Christ. This is why some people say "in Jesus' name" in their prayers. Also, the Holy Spirit is said to intercede for us with "groans" (Romans 8:26). I commonly speak to "Lord" when I pray. I think of Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but also think of God as Lord God Almighty. Jesus and God are two aspects of the same 'being.' Phillipians 2:1-11 tells us that Jesus is in pretty high esteem with God and should be recognized as such. I guess that if you dont believe that they are one and the same, then your prayers should be directed to God since he is Lord over all. I know Catholics use some verse(s) in Revelations to justify why they pray to saints, but it is a stretch to say the least.

Mat 4:10 Then saith Yahshua unto her, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Yahweh is your Father and Him you shall worship, and him only shalt you serve. Rev 14:6 ¶ And I saw another Malak fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting message to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, reverence Yahweh, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

We should pray to God through his son Jesus. No one comes to God except through Jesus. Even Jesus whilst on earth prayed to his Father , not spoke to him self. Trinity is perhaps the most unintelligent lie Christendom has ever told.

As we pray in Jesus' name it is an expression of our faith in the outworking of God's purpose. Namely that Jesus' sacrifice allows our sins to be forgiven, he was resurrected by Jehovah and can administer the benefits of his sacrifice, and that only through him can we go to Jehovah in prayer. Hebrews 4:14, 15, John 14:6 and 1:29. It can become mechanical to repeat, "in Jesus' name" because we've become used to doing so. I really needed to examine my own prayers to be sure that I'm grasping Jesus' role in my life and not using his name out of habit but rather be whole souled in my prayers.

As you stated, Jesus himself prayed to his Father and did not consider himself an equal. We should pray to God. “In everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God.”—PHILIPPIANS 4:6.

(Philippians 4:6-7) .*.*.Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let YOUR petitions be made known to God; 7*and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard YOUR hearts and YOUR mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES ? Regularly praying to Jehovah helps us to draw closer to him.—James 4:8. ? For our prayers to be heard by God, we must pray in faith and with humility and sincerity.—Mark 11:24. ? We must pray only to Jehovah through his Son.—Matthew 6:9; John 14:6. ? Jehovah, the “Hearer of prayer,” uses his angels, his earthly servants, his holy spirit, and his Word to answer prayers.—Psalm 65:2.
