how to teach a class?

music in Harlem Rennaissance. we need to teach a class up to 45 min and we are looking for ideas that we could do to cover all the music info from the Harlem Rennaissance...

Well...I don't know much about your topic, but here are some general teaching tips:

1) Know what you want the students to learn or master at the END of your class...you must know this result before putting together your plan.
2) Think of an engaging way to get the students "hooked" at the beginning...playing soundbites of the music with a list of names of the songs for students to match up, or something like that...
3) "Teach" what you want the students to learn, but also keep them engaged in the content (don't "lecture")
4) Provide the students with some kind of activity where they will show what they have learned...then wrap it up!
