My great grandmother taught me the basics and all the Italian and french recipes I commonly make (I grew up with her in Italy until I was about 9). When I moved to America lived near an elderly Chinese women who taught me all Chinese recipes I know. I also saw my grandmother more often who taught me the American style of cooking and recipes, as well as German and Irish recipes (she was irish, my grandfather was german). I then at 14 got a job at a Mexican restaurant learned many recipes by one of the chefs. And now I am marrying an Indian man and his mother along with many cookbooks are teaching me traditional Indian recipes.

All of this has been, of course, supplemented by television shows and cookbooks. And I am enrolling in a thai cooking class this summer.
